Overview
Ishu Patel gained international renown in the 1970s for his numerous short animation films produced at the National Film Board of Canada. This events features a screening of his works followed by a lecture and discussion moderated by Koji Yamamura.

About Ishu Patel
Ishu Patel produced and directed a remarkable collection of animated short films during his twenty-five years at the National Film Board of Canada and has co-produced works with NHK and Channel Four. His many international awards include the BAFTA Award, two Oscar nominations, the Silver Bear Award at the Berlin Film Festival, Grand Prix at Annecy and Grand Prix at the World Film Festival in Montreal. He has served on the faculties of the School of Cinematic Arts, University of Southern California and Nanyang Technological University, where he established their stop motion facilities for experimental animation. He is a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
About the OPEN INNOVATION Lecture Series
This Lecture Series is part of an on-going collaboration between the Department of Animation and the Yokohama City Culture and Tourism Bureau to promote local cultural development.
About the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Department of Animation
The Graduate School of Film and New Media was established in Yokohama in 2005 with the founding of the Department of Film Production, and the Department of New Media was launched the following year. The Department of Animation was established in 2008 with a practice-oriented curriculum that embraces innovative artistic expression and aims to cultivate leaders in the field.
