Cutting-edge CG x Anime: The Trajectory of Polygon Pictures

Cinema techniques were invented some 120 years ago through numerous trial-and-error efforts to turn the idea of “moving images” into reality. Initially these moving pictures were treated as new territory for expression rather than art, and gradually the medium evolved from factual reports to science, pictures and optical illusions.
This lecture focuses on the creative efforts of Polygon Pictures to fuse “computer graphics” with “anime,” which each have evolved along separate paths, and investigates the relationship between the latest technology and creativity. After screening the film Ajin, Polygon Pictures head Shuzo Shiota will discuss the company’s 25-year history and the latest technology.
